Geoff Joy
Scott Stewart
Scott Stewart made his international rugby debut as a 20-year-old against the United States in September, 1989 and for the next 13 years became a mainstay in the Canadian line-up. Scott started his career during the amateur days but also enjoyed a successful career as a professional player in Europe. He played at Dax (France) in 1991-92, the London Harlequins from 1996-99 and the Bedford Blues from 1999-2001.

Scott’s first Rugby World Cup experience took him to France in 1991. Scott went on to represent Canada at the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa and 1999 when once again Canada played its matches in France. Scott also played in the inaugural 7s RWC in Scotland in 1993 and the 1997 7s RWC in Hong Kong. Scott’s finished with 64 caps for his country playing against all of the top rugby playing nations, including New Zealand (2), England (5), France (4), Australia (3), South Africa (2), Wales (4) and Argentina (4). He scored five tries for his country and had a career total of 84 points including 17 in Canada’s 27-27 tie against Ireland in 2000. Scott is also one of the few in the world who has played in a total of five World Cups (3 XVs and 2 VIIs).

Scott's coaching career has seen him involved with the Canada U21 team from 2003-04, the University of Western Ontario from 2003-06 and the UCLA Bruins since 2004.

Chip Howard, Head Coach
Chip has been involved in rugby for over 30 years, playing for the University of Cincinnati, Greystones of Ireland, the Bay Area Touring Side (BATS), Santa Monica Rugby Club and the Cincinnati Wolfhounds. Mr. Howard played representative "All-Star" rugby with several sides, including the U.S. National team. He was a selector for the U.S. Rugby Union National Team for 8 years and served as a member of the U.S. National Coaching and Selection Staff for another 8 years. He has also coached at the collegiate level for both the University of Cincinnati and UCLA. He is currently a member of the U.S. National Technical Panel for the U.S.A. Rugby Union.
Wade Killefer, Forwards Coach
Wade played 8-Man for Stanford, the Bay Area Touring Side (BATS), UCLA and Santa Monica Rugby Clubs. He played on five National Championship teams from 1968-1975 and coached at UCLA in 1976.
Ed O’Connor, Backs/U15 Coach
Ed comes to the Cougars having played for UCLA during medical school and his internship from 1967 thru 1971, and then for Santa Monica Rugby Club from 1973 to 1977. Ed played in three national 15's championsips and numerous 7-a-side tournament championships. A prominent wing with occasional outside center and fullback duty, Ed played internationally for Spain's national club champion, Canoe de Madrid in 1972-73. It is rumored that Ed may still hold a record for tries against Cal with four in 1969.
Jamie Grant, Front Row Coach
A former US Eagle hooker, Jamie Grant brings a wealth of top level front row experience to the Cougars. His particular focus is the mastery of scrummaging techniques for maximum effectiveness and safety.
Mike Greig, Forwards Coach
New Zealander Mike Greig returns to his rugby roots as an assistant forwards coach for the Cougars. Born and raised in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, Mike was weaned on All-Black rugby, developing a natural passion for the game that saw him make the U14 Hastings Rep side as a hooker. Moving to the back row, Mike went on to captain his school boy team at St. John's College and play for the Celtic Club Colts thereafter. While pursuing educational and professional interests, Mike continued to play for club sides in Hawkes Bay, Christchurch, Wellington, New Zealand and Brisbane, Australia. He has attended and completed the Canterbury Rugby Union's stage one coaching course and most recently the USA Rugby introductory referee course. Mike resides in La Canada with his wife and two kids.
